Oddly quiet day at Papermill Trail

Ours was the only car in the parking lot.

Perfect weather for a walk.

A few snow flurries are visible here.

Eye protection failure...

We worry that Toby is going to put an eye out since he can't see branches (or any other object) headed for his face. His new Doggles (goggles for dogs), look great, but they don't fit well nor do they stay straight; Doggles just don't conform to the shape of a greyhound head. If anyone has a suggestion for protecting his eyes, let us know!

Walter, the honorary Greyhound, is famous!

Play Date Saturday- It's all about Trouble

Play dates are happening fast and furious around here, and the pups are so happy! Especially Lady Flame and Trouble;-) Okay, mostly Trouble. We keep wondering why Trouble gets injured so often, and this sequence of photos shows why...Geez, Trouble! We've never seen a dog contort his body so much during one tiny part of a play date!

Here is the dynamic duo in a chase routine. It is hard to keep up with them as they tour the yard at full speed!

Then, in a "calmer moment", Trouble practices his new ballet moves and jumps directly in front of Toby.

Toby keeps walking (he probably doesn't see any of what is occurring), but Trouble blocks his path as he lands his ballet leap of joy.

Toby gets stuck between the dynamic duo who are oblivious to all but each other.

The dynamic duo growl and bark at each other over Toby's back.

Trouble, up close and personal...in a quiet moment before more pandemonium occurs.

And, finally...Sugaree. "Sugs, how did you get all that sand on your back?" Oh yes, Trouble had to expend even more energy by frantically digging a hole in the sand, which went flying on top of Sugaree who was trying to nap. 

I find it interesting that Shannon is always telling me of how calm and lovey dovey Trouble is inside their home. Huh...I just don't see it myself;-) Rarely have I seen our favorite hound in anything but practically-frantic-mode. He makes us laugh constantly, and we love him dearly.

Lady Flame vies for attention

Lady Flame must show that she is the alpha dog, and that includes vying for attention even during a play date. She is such a bully of a sister!

Late Afternoon Play Date

Trouble and Sugaree came over for a late afternoon play date. The pups all had such a great time, and got along fabulously.

Of course, where you find Trouble, you will also find Lady Flame.  They are in their own world during a play date.

And, admittedly, most of the play date is focused around these two soul mates!

Their play style is so similar that you'd think that they were litter mates.

Toby got to run around and interact as well, and there was very little aggression toward him as the pups really are accepting him after 3 years!

Lady Turned Turtle

I wish I had a picture to show you...Lady Flame turned turtle for the second time in a month. This time, she held the (roaching) position for at least a minute while Drew pet her. After 4 years and 3 months, Lady Flame is finally getting comfortable inside the house. It has been a long haul for all of us. She still has her scaredy dog moments, but they are lessening as each month goes by this year, since her adoption anniversary of July 21st. (Note: I really must keep the camera next to us ,while we watch tv in the evening, so as to document this momentous occasion.)
