Happy 6th Birthday, Toby!

The moods of a 6 year old greyhound are many. They don't want to be seen with their parents and feel that if their eyes are covered that they are invisible!

They want to wear their Superhound cape even when sleeping!

And, they want to be coddled and chillaxed all the time. We love him to bits!

Happy 10th Birthday Sugaree - A Pup Party

Sugaree will be 10 years old on Dec. 22nd, and Shannon decided to celebrate on this snowy Saturday. Sugaree is feeling her age a bit, and after being put on Glucosamine several months ago, she was in fine spirits running around like a puppy today!

Of course, Shannon baked pupcakes to celebrate the event. Sugaree is the daintiest of eaters, and while all the other hounds wolfed their pupcakes down, Sugaree gave me many minutes of photo ops.

Trouble helped celebrate by happily wearing the grinch hat.

Toby hung out, mostly near the counter where the pupcakes were, before joining the rest of the party-goers.

Lady Flame donned the santa hat for awhile.

Soon, it was snooze time for the pups as they'd had a busy day. Going, going, gone...Lady Flame was out like a light dreaming of Christmas biscuits, squirrels, and other delicacies.

Toby v5.0

It's not every day that a pup turns 5 years old. Toby partied hardy today and is going to sleep well tonight! His daily activities were, in this order:

1. Peeing
2. Pooping
3. Eating
4. Sleeping
5. Walking along Starbird Corner (they made it about 1/2 the way due to it being so hot outside.)
6. Peeing multiple times and pooping multiple times down Starbird Corner Rd.
7. Sleeping
8. Snack (1/2 of a carrot)
9. Sunning himself on front deck
10. Snack (1/2 can of French cut green beans, salt-free)
11. Snack (slice of a banana)
12. Sleeping
13. Brief play with Lady Flame (her present to him was to engage him in play, which, by the way, rarely ever happens;-)
14. Dinner
15. Sleeping
16. Peeing
17. Sleeping through the night in his jammies

The Trouble with Birthdays...

Toby was eager to celebrate Trouble's birthday due to the promise of pupcakes. Toby figured that since he was the biggest dog, he should have the first pupcake (and he demonstrated how good he could "sit" on command before pestering Billy.) Then, he decided that he should also have the last pupcake in the pan. But, he was not successful in that endeavor.

Sugaree just did not know what all the fuss was about. "Geez...what's the big deal? So my troublesome brother is having a birthday! Phttttt! But, I cannot resist this yummy pupcake with lickable frosting!"

Of course, Lady Flame was "thrilled" to participate in Trouble's birthday celebration! She immediately staked out the couch as her territory and defended it against all intruders. But, when the pupcakes were served, she hopped right up and joined the crowd, although she did look a bit worried. The, she grabbed the pupcake and made a dash back to the couch whereupon she ceased worrying about her petite figure and chowed down!

Yummmy... Shannon baked the best pupcakes, and there wasn't a crumb left after all the enthusiastic munching and lip smacking! Of course, it looks like we'll have to do a bit of laundry and carpet cleanup! The pups are worth the "trouble"...

We'll have to do this again soon! Hmmm...Toby's birthday is coming up in October;-)

Royal Blue Jay is 12 years old today. We wish him the best. He is one of our buddies, and we all love him dearly.

Toby Turns Four Today!

Happy 6th Birthday, Lady Flame

Lady turned 6 years old today. She is the same shy girl we adopted 3 years ago, although she has been asking for a bit more attention of late, which is very nice...then she runs to her crate and hides. She also seems to be getting more sensitive to sounds, like when a pot hits the side of the sink when being washed, which upsets her and sends her flying to her crate. 

At least we get to pet her briefly a couple of times each day (that is unless someone decides to wash dishes or just walks past while the petting session is going on.) We have to time our petting sessions when there will be no distractions. 

Sigh... I've heard that it can take some dogs 5+ years to mellow out, and I think that Lady Flame will be one of those dogs. Sometimes, we wonder if she would be happier elsewhere, but since we don't know where that is, she is stuck with us. Veronica, if you get to the Dog Days of August before us (August 22nd from 10 am - 4 pm), please sign us up with the dog communicator for both pups;-)
