Play Date with Walter and the Half-Sibs

Here comes Walter! My goodness we love this goofy pup of a pitbull...
He came over for a visit on Sunday (along with our buddy, Rob), accompanied by Billy, Trouble, and Sugaree, and kept everyone entertained!
Walter had more energy than all our hounds combined! He gave Trouble a run for his money;-) All the hounds were muzzled as they get too excited and nippy. Walter, on the other hand, is quite the gentleman all the time.
Then, he enticed Lady Flame to join in the fray!
Walter was like the energizer bunny!
Of course, when you get Flame and Trouble together...they begin to focus their half-sib energy on each other.
And, then they start to fly around the yard. Yup...fly, Trouble...fly!
Whoo! The rough-housing starts up with Flame as the instigator... You see Toby barking his two-cents worth into the fray. He had to be on leash, but he did join in the excitement once in awhile...
Then, it was time to cool down...
And, really relax in the shade.
And, snooze away part of the afternoon.
Sugaree decided that the pool was very enticing, but Drew hadn't put any water in it yet! So, she patiently waited for it to be filled up to her liking;-)
Then, she settled in for a long, cool soak. Until...
Trouble descended upon her, and the magical bath moment disappeared, while her goofy brother decided to drink half the bath water!
Ultimately, Trouble won a turn at a soak in the pool.
And, then he became energized...and called for a "meeting of the minds!"
Round two began...and I asked myself, "What's better than a bunch of hounds romping and relaxing on a Sunday afternoon?" I can't think of a thing...except that we all missed Shannon...

Walter's Play Date

Walter in all his glory!
We love Walter, and we were so excited to get an e-mail that he was visiting Shannon and Billy with our buddy, Rob. We extended an immediate invitation for Walter to come over for a play session with our hounds. This was the first time that Lady Flame and Toby had ever played with an ungreyhound! I wish I'd been home, but I had to work. Drew got the pleasure of hanging out with Rob and photographing Walter. Fun! (Remember to click on any photo for a larger view;-)

Walter's Play Date - Walter and Toby

Toby and Walter meet and greet each other.
Walter and Toby became fast friends today. They were fascinated by each other and actually did very well together, which is amazing as most dogs do not get along with Tunnel-Vision Toby. It was so nice to see Toby having some fun for a change.
Walter says, "Come on, Toby, what are you waiting for? Let's play!"
They followed each other around, and around, and around, while Walter did play pose...
Walter: "Toby, will you chase me already!"
after play pose...
Walter: "Toby, quit gawking at me and play!"
Until, Toby finally got the hint.
Walter: "Alright, big fella, let's rumble!"
Toby realized that somebody actually wanted to play with him!
Whooooo Hoooo!

Walter's Play Date - Walter and Flame

Walter: "Hi Flame. How's about you chase me!"
Lady Flame was also fascinated with Walter. It didn't take her as long to get into the play groove as it did Toby.
Flame says: "Bring it on, Walter!"
But, Walter still did lots of play posing with her.
Walter: "Whose turn is it to be the chaser?"
Then, it was time to play.
"Catch me if you can, Flame!"

Walter's Play Date - Three Pups Play!

(Click on any photo for a larger view.)
Most of the running around occurred with all three pups full into the chase!
They took turns instigating the play.
And, they had a great time until Lady Flame got a bit too rambunctious and bit Walter's ear! Check out the video, in the post below, for unfortunate footage of the incident which resulted in blood gushing from Walter's ear, and a quick trip to our vet.

First the Play, then the Maiming

Walter says, "I came over for a play date and all I got was a super-glued ear!"

Lady Flame is to blame. Her new name is "Flamer the Maimer". From now on, it is muzzles all around for everyone.

By the way, Toby was muzzled because after a bit of running around he'd rather eat snow, until he barfs, than play. I wish to heck I hadn't told Drew to leave Flame unmuzzled. But, she has never intentionally bitten another dog before. Who knew!

Walter - 50% Pitbull/50% Huntin' Dawg/100% Adoggable

Rob and Walter
Walter is the newest member of our circle of puppy friends. He is our friend, Rob's, newest lovable pup. Walter is approximately 1 year old, and weighs in at around 70 lbs of solid pitbull/hunting dog cuteness.
(Click on the photo set for a larger view.)
It is too bad that Walter lives in New Hampshire, a 3 hour drive away. We miss him already! We can't wait to have him visit and run around with the hounds.
