Play Date - Juniper and Dennis meet Cherise and Trouble

Now that we had met both Cherise and Juniper on separate occasions, we decided that these two feisty, sweet hounds should meet, along with Trouble, Dennis, and Toby. Look at Toby's smile. He loves all of his friends!
Due to both girls having hookworms, we have kept everyone apart, but decided that they have been on the meds long enough to be safe (with immediate poop pick-up in the yard.) It was nice to have the Bowdoin Greyhound Gang together again with the new additions.
Trouble is a ladies' man, and he was excited to meet Juniper!
As soon as we got into the backyard, Cherise and Juniper got to meet each other off leash. There were relatively few growlies, and the girls seemed to hit it off.
Then, the ball play began, with muzzles of course! Cherise is an old hand at ball play so she decided to show Juniper how its done;-)
Juniper knows that she is as fast as a speeding bullet, so she decided to join in along with Dennis.
Well, Juniper was surprised at how fast Old Man Dennis was. She felt as though she was standing still as he raced by with Cherise hot on his heels!
Whoo! After that run, both girls headed for the pool.
After they vacated the pool, Dennis hopped in, and Trouble joined him a few minutes later. Dennis was okay with sharing, because "sharing is caring..." Such good boys!
Of course after you cool off in the pool, you must always lay in the sand. So, that's what Trouble did because he is a good boy who follows the rules!
Since Trouble and Dennis are buddies, Dennis followed suit and got all sandy as well!
Then, it was time for a bit of a run again. But, this time, since Dennis is such a gentleman, he got to go muzzle-free. Who's a good boy? Why, Dennis is...
Juniper needed more Drew time, so she invited Cherise to join her for snuggles!
Whaat??? How many people and dogs can fit into a kiddie pool???
And, Trouble says..."Let me in!" And, Dennis says, "Dude, we've already been in this pool together today. Geesh! I just want it to myself!"
After Trouble wanders off, Dennis finally gets the super dirty pool to himself. Ahhh, life is grand...until...
"Mom, what are you doing in my pool! You're ruining my Zen time! No way...now you're stomping the water! Why can't a guy just have a little peace?"
Now, for a peaceful moment...nothing better than a good, old-fashioned tummy rub on a hot day... Oh wait, maybe there is!
Trench digging is the best thing in life! Cherise lays down next to her trench. But, she has just begun because it needs to be deeper and longer.
Whoo... satisfaction is being in the Guinness Book of World Records for the deepest and longest trench dug by a Greyt Greyhound! Yay! Best Day Ever!🐾🐾

Cherise, Trouble, and Toby at Camp Greyhound

Cherise and Trouble came over for a play date today. It was a low energy, super hot afternoon, so they didn't really do much running around.
Cherise headed immediately for the pool and dipped her toes in.
The pool was filled almost to the brim which allowed Cherise to get maximally cooled as it covered so much of her body.
She really settled in for a long cool-off.
And, almost fell asleep as the water was so relaxing.
While Cherise was lounging in the pool, Trouble dug a shallow hole in the sand.
He decided that this was a great place to cool off during the heat of the day.
To get cool, one must really stretch out in the sand.
And, if that doesn't work, then dig a deeper hole and settle down into it.
He really is the happiest of hounds...We love Trouble.
While Trouble was lounging in the sand, Toby was wandering around the yard trying to find a nice, cool shady spot to lay in.
He was so happy to have some of his buddies around, even though he doesn't really interact with them.
But, it was too hot to sit upright, so he got comfy for a long snooze.
He is such a sweet, huggable boy... We love him dearly.

Cherise goes down the stairs for the second time (Photos and Video by Auntie Veronica)

Oh my, how we do remember the agonizing days (two weeks of them) that we spent teaching a stubborn Lady Flame how to go down stairs. Well, today it was Shannon's time to teach Cherise how to do it. We'd had a lovely Swedish Fika on the deck with Veronica and Dennis, and Shannon and Cherise. When it was time to go home, this is what happened...
Mind you, Cherise had done this a few days earlier without thinking about it, but today a bit of trepidation set in as she overthought it.
I gave Shannon a soft peanut butter dog biscuit that she tore into small chunks and put onto each step to lure Cherise down.
There was lots of encouragement from Shannon, Veronica and I. And, Cherise eventually made it to the bottom of the stairs.
Here is the video of Cherise and the stairs.
Then, once she got down the stairs, she didn't want to go to the car to go home because Camp Greyhound is such a fun place to visit!
I couldn't help but laugh as Cherise pulled the typical Greyhound move of averting her gaze when not wanting to do something. This was one of Lady Flame's signature moves!
Eventually, Shannon got Cherise to move, but notice the tightness of the leash. Cherise was still holding back. At least Shannon kept good humor about the affair!
Finally, success! Cherise decided to admit defeat and walked to the car. After this, Cherise mastered the stairs faster than any Greyhound I've known...She is a super fast learner and a fearless girl!

Cherise is as cute as can be!

Oh Cherise...we are so happy that you take the time to visit with us as often as possible.
You are a true delight. And, that you love to play with balls is a bonus! You remind us of our dearly departed GSP, Kasha.
That you love to play with Frisbees is also so much fun.
Again, you remind us of Kasha who was obsessed with Frisbees.
You run around with the Frisbee and shake the daylights out of it, as if it were prey.
It's a good thing this is a Frisbee and not a bunny! You drop it, pick it up, throw it in the air, try to catch it, shake it, repeat...
Your youthfulness truly perks up our day. Your play poses are adorable!
Your goofiness makes us laugh. And, with your short-for-a-Greyhound-snout with a normal sized Greyhound tongue, you have ultra powers of cooling.
Say, "Ahhhhhh"....Heck, even your tonsils are pretty!
You and Shannon can be water nymphs together. I think we need a bigger pool!
That you love the water so much and are so brave, is also delightful. You are the first pup to totally lay down sideways in the water. All the other hounds who use the pool do a modified sphynx pose while cooling. You are soooo chill!
We are thoroughly in love with you, and are proud to be your honorary Aunt and Uncle!
