Skyy's last meet and greet

We don't go to meet and greets very often anymore, but we just had to attend this one up at the Petco, in Augusta. Our buddy, Skyy, has cancer. This was her last meet and greet.

The purpose of meet and greets is to educate the public about greyhound adoption. Skyy is one of the best ambassadors of the breed. So, our buddies Shannon and Billy arrived with Trouble and Sugaree to honor Skyy as well.

Skyy has cancer and has a short time to live.

Skyy still has the energy to smile! This smile has been seen by lots of people in nursing homes as Skyy is a service dog.

Bear Bear is such a great little brother to Skyy

Bear Bear has been a great addition to the Axell family. He is a nervous pup, but is as lovely as can be.

Bettina and Dennis are experts at scarfing food. Poor Bear Bear needs to up his game if he is to compete for treats!

Tommy is the new kid on the block. He is a gorgeous brown and white hound!

Cola arrived with Wade. She is super sweet and she is a service dog!

Cola even has her I.D. badge so that she can accompany Wade to work at DHHS!

Toby got a bit bored with all the action going on. And, poor Sugaree (behind him) was a bit on the nervous side. She doesn't much like big to-dos!

So, we took the pups on a walk around the store.

They were super psyched as there were kitties galore! Great sniffing here;-)

Trouble was a great ambassador for the greyhound breed. He let this little boy pet, and pet, and pet him! Check out Trouble's smile. He loves kids!

Bear Bear said, "Hey Mom, I want some attention too!"

And, lastly, Veronica sported her new shoes! She's always ready to model the latest haute couture in Greyhound fashion;-)

Christmas Time Get-Together

Dennis is quite the "in your face" kind of pup! He bowls you over with lovin'!

We got together with our buddies, Veronica, Bettina, and Dennis today.

Bettina got a much needed hug from her buddy, Drew.

We hadn't seen each other in a year, and Bettina needed a hug from one of her male admirers! 

Dennis was also in need of his male bonding time.

Lady Flame said, "Whatever...dudes." At least she stayed put on the couch during the entire visit, which is nothing short of a miracle!

Toby was also rather "chill" about the visitation. But, he did well and there were no altercations due to his not being able to see anybody!

Veronica came all decked out with her festive flashing lights!

Bettina needed constant reassurance that she was still Veronica's favorite dog!

And, here is Dennis in cutie patootie mode. He is so lovable...

Toby looked quite dashing in his new hat! And, he loves his new toy!

Lady Flame got a new petite hat to fit her petite head! She loves her new "Fleece Navidog" slipper stuffed with paper. I had to nix her wanting to take it outside when going for her nightly potty break!

Thanks for everything, Veronica! Let's get together before another year passes us by!

Holiday Get Together with Veronica and Pups

Such a fun weekend we had. Veronica, Dennis, and Bettina came over for lunch, gift exchange, and hang-out time. Veronica sported dashing, flashing lights!

All the dogs got dressed up. Lady Flame was sporting her sassy Maine Plaid antlers and jingle bells!

Toby wore his antlers and holiday hat with panache!

Bettina was looking stunning in her regal red bow and antlers!

All the pups were excited for biscuit time and crowded around Auntie Veronica.

Toby got a bit overzealous in wanting more biscuits than anyone else.

But, Bettina won the biscuit eating contest.

She felt that she, being the Queen, should get all the biscuits she wanted and even tried to steal Toby's!

Lady Flame was so excited about the prospect of Auntie Veronica's biscuits that she actually came out of her crate for her share!

Dennis was such a polite boy and gently went over to Drew for his piece of the action! Everyone was full to the brim with good food and good cheer!

Wow, what a dog-filled / friend-filled weekend we've had. Fun, fun, fun! Veronica brought her hounds over for lunch, today, and we added in a bit of gift giving.

We haven't been able to spend as much time with Veronica, Dennis, and Bettina as we would like, and hope to remedy this situation;-) 

We think that Toby got on the bed with no knowledge that Bettina was there.

Bettina allowed Toby to lay on the dog bed with her, and never said a word (although we are not sure that Toby actually knew that Bettina was even on the bed;-) If it had been Lady Flame, he would have been warned off. Speaking of Lady Flame, she was banned to her crate as she ramped herself up almost into a lather with growling and snarling at Dennis. She was a very naughty girl.

We enjoyed posing with two of the pups in our matching shirts! Teespring has been featuring greyhound shirts and sweatshirts (brought to my attention by Veronica) and I bought one of each! Of course, Veronica was wearing her shirt decked with Christmas tree lights that blinked on and off in a charming fashion!

After everyone left for home, I let Lady Flame out of her crate, and she got to have first dibs on the new toy that Veronica had given to the pups. She loved hearing the crunchy papery sound along with the squeaker inside. Our poor girl is such a nervous nelly that for some reason she just couldn't handle having Dennis in the house. We might have to muzzle her highness the next time they visit.

And, last, but not least, check out our new pup mug! It will hold the new teas that our Colorado friend, Jane, sent to me for my birthday;-) Greyt friends is what life is all about! And, we sure have a Greyt life...
