Holiday Blooper Photo Shoot

Lady Flame was not a fan of the wood stairs going from the basement to the main floor.
We went to Billy and Shannon's for a tiny photo shoot to see if we could get any decent photos of our pups in their holiday attire. No-go on the decent photos. Just bloopers to the max!
Flame panted non-stop from nervousness at being asked to pose near the tree.
Lady Flame did not want to get near the tree, nor did she want to walk on the wood floor. She refused to pose near the tree...
Toby almost knocked the tree over when asked to sit near it. Thus, he was kept away from it.
Toby was a treat monster! He went through all the treats in record time;-)
This was the only other pose (besides the first shot) with both pups in it!

Holiday Get Together with Veronica and Pups

Such a fun weekend we had. Veronica, Dennis, and Bettina came over for lunch, gift exchange, and hang-out time. Veronica sported dashing, flashing lights!
All the dogs got dressed up. Lady Flame was sporting her sassy Maine Plaid antlers and jingle bells!
Toby wore his antlers and holiday hat with panache!
Bettina was looking stunning in her regal red bow and antlers!
All the pups were excited for biscuit time and crowded around Auntie Veronica.
Toby got a bit overzealous in wanting more biscuits than anyone else.
But, Bettina won the biscuit eating contest.
She felt that she, being the Queen, should get all the biscuits she wanted and even tried to steal Toby's!
Lady Flame was so excited about the prospect of Auntie Veronica's biscuits that she actually came out of her crate for her share!
Dennis was such a polite boy and gently went over to Drew for his piece of the action! Everyone was full to the brim with good food and good cheer!

First Snowy Play Date of the winter season

Lady Flame was overjoyed to see her half-sib, Trouble!
We had our first good sized snow storm of the winter season, and our first snowy play date! Yippee!
The half-sibs played with wild abandon.
It was a no-holds-barred romp, as always.
This trio is extremely paws-on and rough and tumble.
At just a couple of weeks shy of her 11th birthday, Sugaree can still get airborne with ease!
Sugaree was in rare form and was ecstatic to be running around in the snowy weather.
She is one of our favorite greyhound buddies of Lady Flame and Toby.
After the hard play, we retired indoors where Sugaree got the pick of the dog beds. She is soooo pretty...She will be 11 years old on Dec. 22nd!

Toby and his stuffed toys

Toby loves his stuffed toys. And, there is no better way to enjoy a cold day than to be wrapped in a blankie while using squeaky toys as pillows!
He will snooze like this for hours...

Half-Sibs Play Date

The half-sibs came over to play and our pups were thrilled. Lady Flame was so excited that she tried to entice Toby to play with her.
Apparently she was too subtle for our blind, blonde bombshell, as he didn't seem to know exactly where she was!
He was looking off in the wrong direction as often happens when they attempt to play together! Then again, maybe he was interested in what Trouble and Sugaree were doing;-)
Both pups ran over to check out the Trouble action! Toby had to be leashed so the big boys and girls could play (without a blind dog mucking up the works.)
Things start to ramp up immediately as the pups vie for attention from each other.
Good thing they have muzzles on because these pups get so rambunctious!
When Lady Flame and Trouble get together, they forget about everyone else. Sugaree says, "They're nuts! I'm outta here!"
These two hounds are extremely rough and tumble and they are very hands-on as they paw at each other during play.
There is lots of barking, growling and wrestling between soul mates.
They are absolutely like two peas in a pod. You'd think they were twins with their actions.
They love each other to the max! Both dogs are very sensitive pups and this rough play allows them to shed some of their inherent anxiety. They are so much more mellow after play.

Happy 6th Birthday, Toby!

The moods of a 6 year old greyhound are many. They don't want to be seen with their parents and feel that if their eyes are covered that they are invisible!
They want to wear their Superhound cape even when sleeping!
And, they want to be coddled and chillaxed all the time. We love him to bits!

Poppy Play Date

Poppy plays well with the big dogs...

Here... comes... Poppy!

Poppy came for a visit today. She is a super sweet boxer-basset hound mix.
She got to play with the big girls and boys! Trouble tried to entice Poppy to chase him!
There she goes! "Speedy" is her new nickname... She is like a barrel on short, stubby legs!
She was especially enamored with Lady Flame.
And vice versa;-)
Gravity started to take it's toll as Poppy started to get a bit tired after chasing the hounds for an hour;-)
She is all bodacious curves! Marilyn Monroe has nothing on Poppy!

Papermill Pals

We joined Trouble and Sugaree (and their family) for a walk on the Papermill Trail today.
There were a couple of guys scoping out the fishability of the river by walking upstream from their boats.
The Sabattus River is so pretty any time of the year.
We veered off the pavement and took a short, forested trail down to the river.
The pups and people all enjoyed themselves as they investigated the river, which was rather "algified" at the moment, as there was so little water.
We also took a trail that cuts across to Mill St. so as to check out the bridge and old mill area.
This will be very pretty, in autumn, as the trees change color. Unfortunately, this is as far as we got on our walk due to Toby probably getting stung by a bee. Poor pup. Drew had to go back to the beginning of the trail to get the car, and then he drove down Mill St. to pick us up. Toby was limping, and then screaming when I tried to find the cause of his ailment. Then, he lay on the ground until his chariot arrived. Greyhounds aren't known for being stoic;-)
Queen Anne's Lace

I think this is in the "Pink" Family of disturbed roadside flowers, but I can't figure out the species.
Pretty leaves changing to a deep red as autumn is just around the corner.
